The American School of Grenoble is a non-profit, college preparatory school. The school is unique in that all core subjects are taught in English and most of the administration is in English. The American School of Grenoble has partnered with French educational authorities and is housed within a large French public high-school, the Cité Scolaire Internationale. Although classes at the American School of Grenoble are conducted in English, students participate in certain classes at the Cité Scolaire Internationale, and have access to their international facilities.

The school's college preparatory curriculum culminates with the American High School diploma and includes Humanities, Social Studies, Math, Sciences, English, Communication, French and Electives. The small student to teacher ratio allows teachers to tailor the curriculum to meet the specific needs of each student. Individualized study opportunities are afforded to students pursuing honors level classes with the intention of taking AP exams; SAT preparatory classes are offered on a regular basis. The American School of Grenoble also provides French instruction for all students as we believe that immersion in French culture and language enhances life experiences and extra-curricular activities.

The American School of Grenoble currently serves 35 students in grades 6 through 12. The present student body consists of students from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, India, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Australia, Germany, Japan, Italy, Ireland, France, Brazil, Sweden, and Turkey. The Council of International Schools (CIS) Board of Trustees has recently granted the award of Accreditation to the American School of Grenoble.

The Active Bilingue Jeannine Manuel is a bilingual school for children age 6 to 18. The school's mission is to promote international understanding through the bilingual education of a multicultural community of students, the fostering of pedagogical innovation, and the constant exploration of best practices in the context of an ever-changing global environment.

The school offers a nursery and primary school, along with a secondary school including middle and upper school.  Nursery and Primary School EABJM anchors its pedagogy on the natural creativity of children, their appetite for learning and their boundless curiosity. A team of educators, specializing in English, reading, writing, math and science assist and coordinate our teachers and contribute to the on-going process of curriculum and professional development, both in and out of the classroom. All areas of learning share the same goals: develop a base of solid skills and a capacity for independent critical thinking, nurture curiosity and promote self-confidence. To pursue these goals, the pedagogical drivers are similarly common to all disciplines: action (to do) and accomplishment (understanding that one can succeed). In terms of curriculum content, EABJM follows the French national curriculum with the exception of the English and Chinese programs developed by and for the School. Middle and High School It is during the four years of Middle School (6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grade) that the English language takes on its true meaning at EABJM, as a working tool and a communication medium. At each level, approximately 45% of instruction takes place in English, with English mother tongue teachers. Curriculum content, however, doesfollow the French national curriculum, except in English language and literature.  In 10th grade, students can sit for the University of Cambridge’s IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education), an exam taken by their peers in the U.K. In the 11th and 12th grades, students can follow the International Baccalaureate program.

EIB Paris first opened its doors in 1954. Founded under the name EaB (Ecole active Bilingue) and constructed around innovative pedagogic values, the school was the first in France to adhere to the French National Education curriculum while supplementing that instruction with an exclusive English language program.

EIB Paris is a consortium of five secular private schools, all situated in central Paris, that offer distinctive academic options to students from Preschool to High school, regardless of their native language and educational background. The Victor Hugo School is accredited by The University of Cambridge, the British Council, the College Board, and the IBO to dispense a complete international program of instruction in English, as of Nursery class and through to the end of secondary school.  Students from over 60 nationalities follow this program, regardless of native tongue or curriculum of origin.  Thanks to our recognized expertise, all our students can benefit from EIB Paris exclusive and daily instruction in French, whereas they prepare the principal international qualifications and diplomas (Cambridge Checkpoint, IGCSE, PSAT, High School Diploma, AP and IB Diploma). From Preschool to High School, EIB Paris offers the official French curriculum under associative contract with the French Ministry of Education, complemented by our exclusive language program. In addition to a multicultural school environment, EIB Paris international perspective is here ensured by an English language instruction implemented from Preschool, as well as at least another language starting from Primary, through the end of the Lycée (French High School). Students who don’t speak French can be directly immersed in the French curriculum Preschool classes. In Primary, an exclusive program of Immersion Classes has been developed by our pedagogic team, allowing non-French speakers to smoothly adapt to the language and the program during a transitional year. From Grade 6, only students who speak French can be admitted to the French curriculum.

Annual tuition fees for the 2014-2015 school year ranged from €5,160 to €5,250 for the French curriculum, and €14,300 to €18,700 for the English International International Baccalaureate program.

EPIM Marseilles

EPIM Marseilles
Marseille Campus

Marseille, F13007
Website: www.epim-mis.com

EPIM is not a language school. It is a bilingual private international school that is recognized both nationally and internationally. EPIM schools are both multi-language and entirely bilingual French and English, where children receive a quality, multi-disciplinary individualized education in a stimulating environment, with voluntary enrolments limited to a maximum of 20 children per classroom. Accessible for children 2 to 11 years of age, both EPIM schools offer an official educational program recognized by UNESCO, designed to meet the needs of current and future international families. With one international campus situated in Luynes (Aix-en-Provence) and another school inhabiting a historical building in Marseille (please see video), EPIM schools provide a welcoming and safe learning environment for its children, and offer each child the opportunity of a real international scholarship.

At EPIM, the week is split equally, half in English and half in French, so that each child actually has two teachers; one English and one French with the younger children benefiting from an assistant. Art and music teachers are also either French or English.  Going above and beyond its bilingual program, EPIM currently enriches the range of languages offered in its school with Dutch, German and Italian. Thus, in response to the demand, EPIM provides opportunities for non native English students to continue to make progress in their national curriculum program. Working with experienced professors from their own country, the children benefit from two to three hours weekly of study in their language, incorporated into the school's bilingual French / English schedule. With this reinforced teaching, children can then easily make the transition back into their school system that they left a few years earlier. In addition to this total immersion bilingual school, EPIM's curriculum is based on a program developed by international schools over fifty years ago, which is continuously updated, and designed specifically for children between the ages of 3 to 12 years. The program is interdisciplinary, and each subject is dealt with in a coherent manner and preserves its importance. Mathematics, for example, is also discussed in science, geography, music, etc.

The school operates two campuses, one in Marseille and one in Luynes.

The curriculum at this international school is divided between French staff, who teach subjects according to the French national curriculum, and foreign teachers employed in the 12 national systems who teach literature, language, and history according to their respective national standards. Students in the British and American sections earn internationally recognized diplomas and the international option of the French Baccalaureate. The school was founded in 1951 and has an enrollment of 3,000 from kindergarten to 12th grade.

Students of all ages spend about three-quarters of school lesson time in a French class learning in French.  In the case of the Lycée International itself, the class will include children from the other national sections.  In Nursery and Primary, children are released from their French class for one morning and one afternoon in the week (with the one exception of the three year-olds, where it is just one morning).  During this time, they go to their national section classroom and learn in their other language.  This might be English, German, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian or Japanese. In the Secondary Collège Cycle (Years 7 – 10 inclusive in UK terms), the national section is given four weekly periods to teach its language and literature and two other periods to teach the French national history programme through the medium of its own language. In the Secondary Lycée Cycle (Years 11 – 13 inclusive in UK terms), two additional periods are added, making a total of eight in the week. All other subjects – notably Maths, Science and foreign languages – are the responsibility of qualified, native French teachers

The largest of the three Section libraries is the English Language Library which forms part of the CDI (Centre de Documentation et Information) situated in the Agora Building at the Lycée site. This collection, of some 10,000 books, is run jointly with the American Section and is by far the largest of the “foreign language” collections in the CDI, equalled in size only by the French book stock. While intended primarily as a library resource for British and American Section pupils, the collection is also regularly used by pupils from other national sections. The recreational, as well as the academic, needs of the pupils are reflected in a book stock which includes sport, science, art and travel as well as the obvious areas of History and English Language and Literature. A growing University and Careers collection includes all the major educational directories and a full set of British university prospectuses which students are welcome to consult or borrow over the weekend. We have over 1,500 novels aimed at collège level and 2,300 aimed principally at Lycée pupils. In addition to the book stock we subscribe to a variety of weekly and monthly magazines and newspapers. Controlled internet access is offered to all pupils in the Espace Informatique. The standard annual tuition fees are as follows: SECONDARY: 2° - T° (UK Years 11-13).........................6,138 €; 6° - 3° (UK Years 7-10)............................5,165 € PRIMARY: 11° - 7° (UK Years 2-6)............................5,107 € INFANT 2/3: Maternelle 2/3.........................................4,904 € INFANT 1: Maternelle 1............................................2,449 €

This independent, non-selective, coeducational private school provides the British National Curriculum for children aged three to 18. It was founded in 1954 for the children of the British expatriate community, but today serves children from more than 50 nations. The school uses a pastoral and holistic education system.

Junior Academic Programme Overview Foundation Stages 1 & 2: age 3 – 5: The School follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, part of the British curriculum guidance. This means that learning is carefully planned based on organised play and child initiated activities that encourage exploration and self expression. Our aim is to develop confident, happy children who are eager to learn and to share their experiences in a safe and secure environment. Key Stage 1: age 5 – 7: At Key Stage 1 core subjects are introduced. The further development of the basic skills of literacy and numeracy are taught through activities and practical involvement leading to the acquisition of the key concepts. Key Stage 2: age 7 – 11: At Key Stage 2 core subjects continue as well as new ones introduced, building knowledge and skills. Individual needs are assessed in an effort to exploit each child’s full potential academically, physically, emotionally and socially. French Language: All pupils have French lessons every day. The children are placed according to their experience of the language in the most appropriate learning group across each year. The pupils are perfectly placed to enrich their knowledge by exploiting the learning opportunities offered by their everyday surroundings and by their native speaking teachers. Senior School Academic Programme Overview Key Stage 3: age 11 – 14: The Key Stage 3 curriculum guides your child’s learning in the first three years of Secondary School education.  At the British School of Paris we provide a wide range of subject experience to allow pupils to develop a broad spectrum of skills and knowledge. Key Stage 3: age 14 – 16: Key Stage 4 offers your child a broad, diverse and stimulating curriculum that results in achieving the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) Award. Foundation Year: age 16 – 17: For some students, moving straight to AS and A level courses may not be appropriate, we therefore offer a one year Foundation programme as an option to be considered. This programme could lead to further education vocational courses or be a preparation for the two year A-Level programme at the BSP. A level: age 16 – 18: Students progressing into the Sixth Form follow a rigorous schedule and expectations of success are high. We offer a variety of subjects to A Level which lead to Higher Education possibilities worldwide University Entrance: The Sixth Form team: Heads of Year’s 12 and 13, dedicated Tutors, Careers Master, and Study Coordinator are all there to encourage success, assist, support and guide our student’s university applications. We aim to provide the best environment for them to strive for academic excellence, whilst at the same time preparing them for the independence of university life and the world outside school.
